Best Nashville Shopping

AOL PICK from our Editors
When it comes to the Nashville shopping scene, the city excels at two things: locally owned boutiques and galleries, and music-related items (some totally kitschy, some totally cool). From the Ernest Tubb Record Shop on Broadway—a great place to pick up some traditional country sounds—to the historic concert posters from Hatch Show Print, you have excellent options for country music take-homes that are anything but predictable. Neighborhood shopping in Nashville is the way to go; hit Hillsboro Village, East Nashville and 12South for the widest variety of locally owned stores. The Green Hills area offers luxe designers and brands at Green Hills Mall, while the nearby Hill Center bridges the space between the typical mall and the all-local scene with a combination of the two in a pedestrian-friendly setting. Whatever you are looking for as you're on your Nashville shopping trip, you will be sure to find it.

Hillsboro Village

Neighborhood: Hillsboro Village
Hillsboro Village is comprised of a charming collection of boutique-y, locally owned shops tucked between Vanderbilt University and Belmont College. Browse for everything from stationary and funky office products to fresh flowers and rare books. There’s also a smattering of Nashville's top restaurants, including Cabana, Sunset Grill and the funky Fido—a former pet store turned cafe. Most shops are open Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 5PM, with some stores offering extended evening hours for those who just can't get enough of Nashville shopping.

Katy K's Ranch Dressing

Neighborhood: 12South
The owner of this one-of-a-kind western shop hails from New York City, where she made a name for herself dressing up drag queens and pop divas. Predictably, country music stars soon overwhelmed her with business—so she packed up her bags and headed south to Nashville. Katy K's Ranch Dressing is a fanciful mix of everything from punk duds to cowboy boots, not to mention a good selection of fancy and everyday Western wear for cowboys and cowgirls. Katy K also stocks gifts, plus a few vintage items, like Manuel jackets or western pieces from Nudie's of Hollywood.

Hartmann Luggage

Neighborhood: Lebanon, TN
If you fancy the fanciest luggage, you'll make the trip to the Hartmann Factory Luggage Outlet in Lebanon, a 25-minute drive from downtown Nashville. Located next door to the Hartmann headquarters, deals (one-third to one-half off retail price) can be had on this luxury luggage. If you live in the general region, however, be sure to get on the mailing list for Hartmann’s annual after-Thanksgiving and spring sales; the bargains are so good you’ll scream about going shopping in Nashville.

Hatch Show Print

Neighborhood: The District
Hatch is one of our favorite spots in town—a must-visit no matter what stops you have in mind for your Nashville shopping excursion. Hatch has been around since the late-1800s and is famous for its letterpress printing; it’s still operating today if you're willing to shell out for a custom printing. Pick up a re-print of original posters for concerts from stars like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Elvis. Or snag a more recent edition, like our recent purchase, a Harry Connick Jr. poster. Closed Sundays.
