Cheers Shot Bar, Austin

Back in 2001, Sixth Street's most poorly-lit dive got a boost of publicity when the Bush twins were nailed for flashing fake IDs on the premises. Cheers hardly needed it, having already been known among locals as one of the area's most reliable purveyor of cheap well drinks and thus a prime destination for those bargain-hunting downtown revelers whose wallets can't keep up with their youthful exuberance. Beyond mere bargains, though, Cheers is a pretty admirable option for those who dig loud Top 40 tunes, multi-ingredient shots and cozy, dimly-lit quarters. It's also a pretty popular place to dance, this being quite an accomplishment for a bar that doesn't actually have a dance floor.
