Park City Pop Culture

Movie productions looking for a scenic mountain resort setting need look no further than Park City, and that’s why the town has served as a locale for a variety of film and television productions. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels strolled down Main Street in their finest ski apparel in “Dumb and Dumber,” and the cast of “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer” (minus Jennifer Love Hewitt, who didn’t return for this sequel) did their best to evade a certain hooked slasher running around town. For several seasons, Park City doubled as the fictional town of Everwood, Colo., in the TV series “Everwood,” and cast members Treat Williams, Scott Wolf and Anne Heche could often be seen around town while the show was in production. Author Ann Beattie chose the title “Park City” for her collection of short stories published in 1998. The book’s title story focused on two sisters and their children vacationing at an off-season ski resort.
