The Coastal Edge ECSC has evolved over the past several decades into more than just a weekend surfing contest. This year it has grown into five days of beach sports, sights and sounds. New for 2010, ECSC featured motocross stunt performances, a greatly expanded vendor village, a whiffleball tournament, a second skateboard/BMX ramp and two stages with musical acts playing throughout the weekend. More than 850 pro and amateur surfers in all age groups plus hundreds of other competitors take part in other uniquely beach-oriented sports, including beach volleyball, cornhole, skimboarding and an oceanfront 8 K run and a 1-K “fun run.” Ladies will compete in the annual Miss ECSC Swimsuit Pageant in hope to advance to the 2011 US Model Search in the Bahamas with the International Bikini Team. Extreme sports like BMX, skateboard exhibitions amazed the thousands who made their way down to the Virginia Beach oceanfront. FREE, live musical entertainment from regional bands, such as local’s favorites Butter and Jesse Chong, will be performing during the five day festival. The Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships presented by Vans and Monster Energy is produced by the Virginia Beach Jaycees, a volunteer community service organization. All events at the ECSC beach festival are open to the public, free of charge. Portions of the proceeds raised at ECSC benefit the Jaycee’s many charitable projects, including Camp Virginia Jaycee a physical and mental special needs facility for children. www.surfecsc.com...   Read More
