Maya's, Seattle

Justly or not, South Seattle does not enjoy the best of reputations. As a result, many of its treasures go unnoticed. Perhaps that's the reason this lovely Mexican restaurant is visited most often by its neighbors. Whatever the reason, it certainly deserves to be better known. There are no velvet Elvises on these walls, but they wouldn't make much difference. The matadors and rose-in-the-hair maidens come close enough. Portions are large. The servers are friendly, and while the menu is mostly limited to the standard tacos, burritos and enchiladas, the entrees are well prepared.
