Ok ladies, take a deep breath and let your heart beat slow down a bit before reading further. I'm sure you all know Jesse Metcalfe (aka John Rowland) from his role on the Emmy award winning TV show Desperate Housewives. Jesse shed the clothes (often) as the teenage gardener having the secret affair with Eva Longoria Parker’s character.

You may also recognize him from the soap opera Passions and also his starring role as John Tucker from the movie John Tucker Must Die.

AOL Travel spent some time with Jesse (with his shirt on of course) to talk about what travel moment inspired him the most, what’s his biggest pet peeve when traveling and where his favorite place is to escape the every life of a celebrity.

Is there a destination or travel moment that inspired you, or even changed your life? If so, where and why?

I travelled to India to make a film "The Other End of the Line" in 2007, and lived in Mumbai for 7 weeks. I became very enamored with the culture and lifestyle. There is a humanity, a zest for life and love for people, that definitely changed me as person. If you want to really understand and get to know a travel destination its essential that you immerse yourself in the culture there. It always helps if you know some natives or locals to that area, and that you stay long enough to forget you're an outsider. I really look forward to getting back to India sometime soon. It’s an amazing place.

What's your biggest pet peeve when you travel?

One of my biggest pet peeves when traveling is the person that will not stop trying to start a conversation with you, even though it's obvious you are trying to sleep. You close your eyes, put on your ipod headphones, even turn your back on them and they're still talking!

Where is your favorite place to get away from it all?
I’ve been really fortunate and have traveled to lots of amazing places including Australia, Spain, Italy, India, Hawaii, the South of France, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. This might sound lame, but now that I’m a little older, my favorite get away is anywhere with my family. I definitely don't get to see them as often as I'd like. We're actually planning a trip back to Hawaii in December.

When traveling, what's the very first thing you do when you enter your hotel room?

I always have to walk around and check it out and see what’s in it! Open cupboards, check out the snacks, make sure there's a stereo and a DVD player and make sure I know where the TV remote is. Sometimes housekeeping puts them in the strangest places and you spend an hour looking for it.

As a celebrity, you travel a lot for your job. What are some tips and tricks that you've found to make the journey more comfortable?

Try and make it feel a little like home. Take your iPod and portable speakers and find the nearest grocery and fill the mini bar with things you are used to having in the fridge - that usually helps.

You can catch Jesse back on the big screen opposite big name stars Michael Douglas and Amber Tamblyn in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt which comes out September 11th, 2009. The bigger news however, is his highly anticipated (and possibly shirtless) return to Wisteria Lane this October as Desperate Housewives returns for another season.
