Location: Half Moon Bay, Calif.

Scoop: If Charlie Brown's still looking for the Great Pumpkin, he should head over to Half Moon Bay, the self-proclaimed Pumpkin capital of the world: 2006's weigh-off at the annual Art & Pumpkin Festival weighed in at a whopping 1,223 pounds. The festival includes more than 250 craftspeople and artists, pie-eating and pumpkin carving contests, and specially-produced wine and micro-brewed beer.

In between the chunkin, there's live music, food and a pumpkin cooking contest featuring everything from pumpkin drinks to pies, candies and appetizers.
